New video addresses the emotional and psychosocial aspects of essential tremor
May 7, 2013 - As part of its ongoing mission to broaden awareness and understanding about essential tremor (ET) among the medical community and the public at large, the International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) has released a new video centering on the emotional and psychosocial aspects of the condition.

IETF Awards $2,500 in 2013 Scholarships
January 2, 2013 - The International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) is pleased to award a $500 scholarship each for the 2012-2013 academic year to five students: Amy Timcoe of Woodhaven, MI; Carolina Conway of San Diego, CA; Emily Morris of Georgetown, SC; Katherine Hickey of Blacksburg, VA; and Kaleigh Knapp of Concord, NC.

World Health Organization Validates Essential Tremor with New Classification for First Time
December 3, 2012 - Essential tremor (ET), a neurological condition that affects an estimated 10 million people in the U.S., now has a specific classification with important ramifications for patients and healthcare providers.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has given validation to millions of people in the U.S. diagnosed with essential tremor when the International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems (ICD) code book was updated to the 10th edition. What was once coded and known by the healthcare community as a nonspecific tremor (333.1) or nonparkinsonian tremor now has a name and a code.

IETF Debuts Major Webcast that Addresses the Most Common Neurological Disorder in U.S.
November 1, 2012 - Overland Park, Kansas-based International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF), the leading nonprofit focused on research, education, and awareness of the most common neurological disorder in the U.S., will host an informational webcast on November 13, 2012, noon (EST). Dr. Arif Dalvi, Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology, Department of Neurology, University of Chicago, and member of the IETF’s Medical Advisory Board, will discuss diagnosis, treatment, and research on essential tremor which affects 10 million people in the U.S.

IETF Awards Five Scholarships to Students Across U.S. for 2012
June 14, 2012 - The International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) is pleased to award a $500 scholarship each for the 2012-2013 academic year to five students: Melissa Masimore of Hubbard, Ohio; Carolina Conway of Tustin, California; Bethany Shipley of Edmond, Oklahoma; Sydney Strahm of Rockwall, Texas; and Kyle Garnick of Hudson, New Hampshire.

IETF Awards Grants to Fund ET Research in Three Countries
June 7, 2012 - The International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) will fund three essential tremor (ET) research grants totaling $75,000 in 2012 submitted by researchers in Canada, Australia, and Sun City, Arizona.

IETF Supports Bishop Kelly Student Engineering Team's Development of ET Tools
February 23, 2012 - The International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) has donated funds to help underwrite travel expenses for the Bishop Kelly High School’s Engineering Design team, based in Boise, Idaho, when they participate in the 2011-2012 Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam program at the EurekaFest held at MIT in Boston. The student team is developing two tools that may one day assist people with essential tremor (ET).

Second Anniversary of National Essential Tremor Awareness Month in March

IETF Supports High School Engineering Team Reach National Competition
February 6, 2012 - The International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF) is pleased to support Bishop Kelly High School’s Engineering Design team of Boise, ID in their bid to compete in the Lemelson-MIT InvenTeam program. The IETF will donate funds to underwrite travel expenses to the June 2012 competition at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, MA.
