Holiday Coping Tips
Beat the winter blues and enjoy the most out of the upcoming holidays by effectively managing your ET. Below are tips to guide you through busy season.
- Avoid caffeine. Skip the espresso to eliminate increasing your heart rate which can also exacerbate your tremor temporarily. Don’t forget about those holiday sweets – chocolate has caffeine too!
- Plan ahead. Set aside specific days for shopping, visiting friends and other activities. Know what you need to bring ahead of time to make your tasks easier. Bring credit cards instead of paying with checks, carry and use weighted pens or pack eating utensils with large handles along with you.
- Be realistic. The holidays don’t have to be perfect. Take on only what you can handle. Friends and family will understand if you can’t participate in every project or activity.
- Take a breather. Stress can worsen your tremor. Spending just 15 minutes alone, without distractions, may refresh you enough to handle everything you need to do.
On December 2, people all over the world will put aside the hustle and bustle of the holidays and come together to redefine the giving spirit this season. We have two days for getting great shopping deals, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Now there’s GivingTuesday; a global day dedicated to giving back. A day when charities, families, and businesses around the world come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give. Join the IETF this GivingTuesday and be a part of a global celebration of this new tradition.
