Tremor Gram – May 2019

Honor a Loved One This Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a time to pay tribute to and honor those who have served our country. Over the years, it also has become a day of remembrance of loved ones who have passed.

As Memorial Day approaches, consider honoring a loved one with a memorial contribution to the IETF. There is no set minimum contribution and all memorials are posted on a special Memorial Wall on the IETF website and in Tremor Talk magazine.

We often see memorial contributions this time of year and also around birthdays and anniversaries of loved ones. Some family members make annual gifts as a lasting tribute to their loved ones.

As with all donations to the IETF, memorial donations are tax-deductible.

Connecting with Neurologists Nationwide
The IETF had a presence once again this year at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). This is the world’s largest professional meeting of neurologists. It was held this year in Philadelphia.

The IETF sets up a booth at this event each year to increase global visibility. We connect with neurologists, share resources/materials about essential tremor and raise awareness to our mission. We also let them know about our “Find an ET Specialist” listing on our website. The meeting also serves as a connection point with research and technology groups, allowing us to strengthen partnerships and build new ones who focus their efforts on promoting essential tremor research and awareness.

In September, the IETF will attend the American Academy of Family Physicians annual conference in Washington, D.C.

Thank You for Shining a Light on Essential Tremor

National Essential Tremor Awareness Month 2019 engaged thousands of people with essential tremor (ET) who shared social media posts and videos, hosted fundraisers and made donations to further the mission of the International Essential Tremor Foundation (IETF).

NETA Month 2019 LogoThank you to everyone who helped us “Shine a Light on Essential Tremor” during March. The IETF has been organizing this awareness campaign each year since 2010 and the participation by the ET community continues to rise. You are making a difference. By educating a co-worker or a neighbor, hosting a Facebook fundraiser, sporting an NETA Month t-shirt, or sharing a Facebook or Twitter post, you are part of a concerted effort to educate the public and erase the stigma associated with ET.
