Tremor Gram – November 2017
IETF Joins ABC Board
Patrick McCartney, the executive director of The International Essential Tremor Foundation, has just begun a three year term on the board of directors of the American Brain Coalition (ABC).
ABC is a non-profit organization comprised of the United States leading professional neurological, psychological, and psychiatric associations and patient organizations who seek to advance the understanding of the functions of the brain, and to reduce the burden of brain disorders through public advocacy.
This is a great opportunity for the ET community to have a voice in Washington D.C. to promote brain research and education.
Informed Series TV Awareness Projects
The IETF has been working with the Informed Series to educate the public about ET and to raise awareness for the IETF.
Informed produced a 5 minute corporate profile with detailed information documenting ET issues and an educational message to promote awareness for the IETF. This video will be distributed to public television stations in all 50 states to be shown, at the stations discretion, for one year. Click here to see the video.
Also as part of this partnership, a commercial was produced airing in prime time on Fox Business Network on November 9 & 12. The commercial will also air regionally in prime time November 20-December 3 on a variety of cable channels including CNN, Family Channel and MSNBC to name a few. Click here to see the commercial.
Gear Up For Giving Tuesday
This year, on Tuesday, Nov. 28, the IETF is participating in Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving.
Since its founding in 2012, Giving Tuesday has inspired giving around the world, resulting in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities bringing about real change in communities.
We invite you to save the date and join the movement to help give this Nov. 28.
Last year the IETF raised over $2,100 on Giving Tuesday, a 43% increase from 2015. Our goal is to raise $4,000 this year.
The IETF will dedicate 100% of the donations from Giving Tuesday to our scholarship fund. Each semester, the IETF awards four $1,000 scholarships to qualified post-high school students of all ages. Click here to learn more about our fall 2017 scholarship winners.
Keep an eye on your email and social media to donate on Giving Tuesday.
