Overcoming ET, Winning Awards

Maryann O'BrienMary Ann O’Brien lives in River Ridge, LA, a suburb of New Orleans. She started with symptoms (very fine tremors) of essential tremor in her mid-40s.

“I also started painting around that time,” she says. “As the tremors (mostly in my hands and arms) increased over the years, I’ve learned to make adjustments in how I handle things like a pen when writing, a fork while eating, and now my paint brush. Over the years, I have had to modify my painting style from photo-realistic to a more loose style as the tremors progressed.”

She’s learned to cope quite well despite her ET symptoms. “I belong to several art guilds and enter their shows, often winning awards,” she notes.
